FPL Double Gameweek 33: Best Players to Target

GW33 Deadline: Saturday 18 April at 10:00 BST

Six teams play twice in Gameweek 33: Brighton, Chelsea, Leeds, Bournemouth, Burnley, and Man City. That's a double points opportunity — but not all doubles are created equal. Man City face Arsenal at home (FDR:4) before travelling to Burnley. Chelsea host Man United then visit Brighton. The doubles that really stand out belong to Brighton, Leeds, and Bournemouth, with some surprising gems hidden in the Man City and Chelsea camps too.

Here's every DGW33 target worth knowing about, with verified stats from the live FPL API.

GW33 Double Gameweek Fixtures

Team Fixture 1 FDR Fixture 2 FDR
Brighton A @ Spurs 2 H vs Chelsea 3
Leeds H vs Wolves 2 A @ Bournemouth 3
Bournemouth A @ Newcastle 3 H vs Leeds 2
Man City H vs Arsenal 4 A @ Burnley 2
Chelsea H vs Man Utd 3 A @ Brighton 4
Burnley A @ Nott'm Forest 3 H vs Man City 4

Verdict on fixtures: Brighton and Leeds have the best DGW pairs — back-to-back soft draws with combined FDR of 5. Bournemouth are solid. Man City's tough opener against Arsenal drags down their ceiling. Chelsea are mid. Burnley's double is the least appealing.

⭐ Premium & Mid-Price Picks

1. Danny Welbeck — Brighton (FWD, £6.2m, 5.4% TSB)

Danny Welbeck

EP: 7.5 | Form: 7.0 | DGW Fixtures: A @ Spurs (FDR:2), H vs Chelsea (FDR:3)

The standout DGW33 target at any price point. Welbeck has been one of the most productive strikers in the Premier League this season — 12 goals in just 1,817 minutes, averaging one goal every 151 minutes. His xGI of 11.56 is elite striker quality, and he now has a double gameweek containing Brighton's away trip to Spurs (FDR:2) and a home clash with Chelsea. With only 5.4% ownership and nearly 196,000 managers transferring him in this week, acting fast preserves whatever differential value remains.

Key stats:

  • EP Next GW: 7.5 (highest of any DGW asset)
  • Form: 7.0 — in top form heading into the double
  • Goals: 12 | Assists: 0 | xGI: 11.56
  • Starts: 20 — rotation risk to monitor, but in full swing right now
  • Transfers in: +195,879 | Status: ✅ Available
  • Brighton: A @ Spurs (FDR:2), H vs Chelsea (FDR:3)

Verdict: The must-have DGW33 asset. Best value-EP ratio in the game for the gameweek. Transfer him in now.

2. Jan Paul van Hecke — Brighton (DEF, £4.5m, 5.7% TSB)

Jan Paul van Hecke

EP: 7.0 | Form: 6.5 | DGW Fixtures: A @ Spurs (FDR:2), H vs Chelsea (FDR:3)

The cheapest route into Brighton's DGW33 double and arguably the best budget defender in the entire game right now. Van Hecke has 3 goals and 2 assists from centre-back this season — a tally that would shame many FPL midfielders — with 7 clean sheets and an EP of 7.0 heading into two decent fixtures. At £4.5m he frees up huge funds to upgrade elsewhere. An incredible +151,871 transfers in this week — the most of any defender.

Key stats:

  • EP: 7.0 | Form: 6.5
  • Goals: 3 | Assists: 2 | xGI: 3.34
  • Clean Sheets: 7 | Starts: 29 — near ever-present
  • Transfers in: +151,871 | Status: ✅ Available
  • Brighton: A @ Spurs (FDR:2), H vs Chelsea (FDR:3)

Verdict: Best cheap defender in GW33. The +151k transfers in tell their own story. Get him in.

3. Bart Verbruggen — Brighton (GK, £4.5m, 5.9% TSB)

Bart Verbruggen

EP: 5.5 | Form: 5.0 | DGW Fixtures: A @ Spurs (FDR:2), H vs Chelsea (FDR:3)

If you want to maximise Brighton's double from all angles, Verbruggen is the goalkeeper. Double gameweek plus FDR:2 away is about as good as it gets for a GK — two shots at a clean sheet against Spurs and Chelsea. At £4.5m with 7 clean sheets this season and a permanent starter (31 starts), he's the best-value GK upgrade in GW33.

Key stats:

  • EP: 5.5 | Form: 5.0
  • Clean Sheets: 7 | Starts: 31
  • Transfers in: +70,474 | Status: ✅ Available
  • Brighton: A @ Spurs (FDR:2), H vs Chelsea (FDR:3)

Verdict: Best GK for GW33. Especially strong if you're running a Brighton triple-up (Verbruggen, Van Hecke, Welbeck).

4. Marcos Senesi — Bournemouth (DEF, £5.1m, 20.1% TSB)

Marcos Senesi

EP: 4.5 | Form: 5.5 | DGW Fixtures: A @ Newcastle (FDR:3), H vs Leeds (FDR:2)

Senesi is Bournemouth's most-owned FPL asset for good reason — 137 total points (most of any Bournemouth player), 9 clean sheets, and 4 assists from defence. Bournemouth's home fixture against Leeds (FDR:2) in particular is a strong clean sheet candidate. At 20.1% TSB he's not a differential but he is a high-floor DGW play.

Key stats:

  • EP: 4.5 | Form: 5.5
  • PPG: 4.6 (excellent for a defender)
  • Clean Sheets: 9 | Assists: 4 | xGI: 5.49
  • Starts: 30 | Total Points: 137
  • Transfers in: +100,230 | Status: ✅ Available
  • Bournemouth: A @ Newcastle (FDR:3), H vs Leeds (FDR:2)

Verdict: Reliable, high-floor DGW defender. Not a differential but a consistent double-digit haul target over two games.

5. Adrien Truffert — Bournemouth (DEF, £4.7m, 3.3% TSB)

Adrien Truffert

EP: 6.5 | Form: 7.5 | DGW Fixtures: A @ Newcastle (FDR:3), H vs Leeds (FDR:2)

The higher-EP, lower-ownership Bournemouth defensive option. Truffert's EP of 6.5 and Form of 7.5 both exceed Senesi — reflecting his exceptional recent performances. 122 total points from a £4.7m defender with 9 clean sheets and 3 assists. An ever-present starter (31 starts) who operates as a left-back with attacking licence, he's been racking up BPS and set-piece involvement regularly.

Key stats:

  • EP: 6.5 | Form: 7.5 (hot right now)
  • Clean Sheets: 9 | Assists: 3 | xGI: 2.87
  • Starts: 31 — automatic starter
  • Transfers in: +40,060 | Status: ✅ Available
  • Bournemouth: A @ Newcastle (FDR:3), H vs Leeds (FDR:2)

Verdict: Better EP/form than Senesi at a lower price. The DGW33 under-the-radar defensive gem from Bournemouth. Prioritise him over Senesi for value.

6. Yankuba Minteh — Brighton (MID, £5.5m, 2.0% TSB)

Yankuba Minteh

EP: 5.5 | Form: 5.0 | DGW Fixtures: A @ Spurs (FDR:2), H vs Chelsea (FDR:3)

If you want a Brighton midfielder to pair with Welbeck, Minteh is the pick. 2 goals and 8 assists this season at an xGI of 7.06 — he's Brighton's primary creative outlet and combines well with Welbeck in the attack. Two Brighton fixtures at combined FDR of 5 makes him a genuinely tempting mid-price option, and 2.0% TSB means any return is a rank-climber.

Key stats:

  • EP: 5.5 | Form: 5.0
  • Goals: 2 | Assists: 8 | xGI: 7.06
  • Starts: 20 — rotation risk, but currently in good run of starts
  • Transfers in: +20,963 | Status: ✅ Available
  • Brighton: A @ Spurs (FDR:2), H vs Chelsea (FDR:3)

Verdict: Best Brighton midfielder for DGW33. Pairs well with Welbeck to maximise Brighton double exposure.

7. João Pedro — Chelsea (FWD, £7.8m, 50.3% TSB)

João Pedro

EP: 2.0 | Form: 2.0 | DGW Fixtures: H vs Man Utd (FDR:3), A @ Brighton (FDR:4)

The template Chelsea hold. João Pedro has had a remarkable season — 14 goals and 9 assists in 2,307 minutes — and is owned by over 50% of FPL managers. The double gameweek is a strong reason to hold rather than sell, but his EP (2.0) and Form (2.0) show a current dip. Chelsea's two fixtures are mixed (Man Utd at home is manageable, Brighton away is tough), and the algorithm isn't backing him heavily for this double. Still a top asset — but the DGW bounce may be muted compared to Brighton players.

Key stats:

  • EP: 2.0 | Form: 2.0 (dip in form)
  • Goals: 14 | Assists: 9 | xGI: 15.39 — world-class numbers overall
  • PPG: 5.3 | Total Points: 164
  • Transfers in: +75,297 | Transfers out: -143,423 (net sellers despite DGW)
  • Chelsea: H vs Man Utd (FDR:3), A @ Brighton (FDR:4)

Verdict: Hold if you own him — the DGW gives extra chances to return to form. Don't bring in fresh just for the double given low EP and mixed fixtures.

8. Erling Haaland — Man City (FWD, £14.4m, 55.4% TSB)

Erling Haaland

EP: 2.0 | Form: 2.0 | DGW Fixtures: H vs Arsenal (FDR:4), A @ Burnley (FDR:2)

The most owned player in FPL and he has a double gameweek — but the numbers don't flatter it. Haaland's EP is just 2.0, reflecting that Man City face Arsenal at home (FDR:4) first, and that's a fixture where blanks are very possible. The Burnley away trip (FDR:2) is kinder. With 22 goals and 7 assists in 2,413 minutes this season he's clearly the best striker in the game, but the Man City vs Arsenal fixture suppresses the expected points significantly.

Key stats:

  • EP: 2.0 | Form: 2.0
  • Goals: 22 | Assists: 7 | xGI: 23.00 — outright best striker in FPL
  • PPG: 6.8 | Total Points: 197
  • Transfers in: +126,756 | Transfers out: -72,551
  • Man City: H vs Arsenal (FDR:4), A @ Burnley (FDR:2)

Verdict: Hold if you own him — two games is two chances. The Arsenal fixture suppresses his ceiling. Don't rush to bring in for the double given low EP, but his Burnley trip alone could produce.

Budget Picks Under £5m

9. Jaka Bijol — Leeds (DEF, £3.9m, 0.5% TSB)

Jaka Bijol

EP: 8.5 | Form: 9.0 | DGW Fixtures: H vs Wolves (FDR:2), A @ Bournemouth (FDR:3)

The most surprising name in DGW33. Bijol has an EP of 8.5 and form of 9.0 — one of the highest in the entire game — from a £3.9m Leeds defender with just 0.5% ownership. His underlying stats are limited (1G/2A, modest xGI) but something has driven FPL's algorithm to rate him highly. He was only recently promoted to regular starts (14 starts) and Leeds' double (H vs Wolves FDR:2, A @ Bournemouth FDR:3) is genuinely promising.

Key stats:

  • EP: 8.5 | Form: 9.0 (among the highest in the game)
  • Goals: 1 | Assists: 2 | xGI: 1.43
  • Starts: 14 — less established, monitor team news
  • Transfers in: +15,457 | Status: ✅ Available
  • Leeds: H vs Wolves (FDR:2), A @ Bournemouth (FDR:3)

Verdict: Ultra-cheap differential with eye-catching EP/form numbers. £3.9m with a double — one of the best bangers-for-your-buck options in GW33. Verify his starting role before committing.

10. Pascal Struijk — Leeds (DEF, £4.3m, 0.6% TSB)

Pascal Struijk

EP: 6.0 | Form: 6.5 | DGW Fixtures: H vs Wolves (FDR:2), A @ Bournemouth (FDR:3)

Struijk is the more established Leeds defensive option at £4.3m with 27 starts this season — a regular starter compared to Bijol. 93 total points from a £4.3m defender is excellent value, and Leeds' double against Wolves and Bournemouth offers clean sheet potential in both legs. 6 clean sheets this season and an xGI of 3.29 shows he contributes at both ends.

Key stats:

  • EP: 6.0 | Form: 6.5
  • Assists: 1 | xGI: 3.29
  • Clean Sheets: 6 | Starts: 27
  • Total Points: 93 | Transfers in: +18,487 | Status: ✅ Available
  • Leeds: H vs Wolves (FDR:2), A @ Bournemouth (FDR:3)

Verdict: More reliable starter than Bijol with solid points history. Best £4.3m defensive pick in DGW33.
